Two UAH Research Disciplines in
Top 20 in NSF Funding

Federal money brought into UAH to support atmospheric science and mechanical engineering research put those programs among the top 20 in the nation during the 2001 fiscal year.

UAH’s atmospheric science researchers had more than $4.6 million in federal contracts and grants, ranking 16th on the NSF list. UAH Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering Department also had $4.6 million in federal research expenditures – 19th in the NSF rankings.

Other UAH programs listed in the NSF report, “Academic Research and Development Expenditures” for federal research dollars included:

        Computer Sciences 30th
        Electrical Engineering 39th
        Chemical Engineering 56th
        Chemistry 59th
        Physics 62nd

UAH was 57th in federally funded engineering research.
