GUIDELINES

AAMA Manufacturing Scholarships are intended to encourage Alabama students to pursue careers in manufacturing sectors. Consideration will be given to students that have demonstrated an interest in a career in automotive manufacturing or automotive manufacturing maintenance. Preference will be given to recent high school graduates or GED recipients who are planning to enroll in an automotive manufacturing program at a two-year college in Alabama.

AAMA Manufacturing Scholarships support individuals pursuing a career/technical education certificate or associate degree in The Alabama College System in preparation for a career in the automotive manufacturing industry.

ELIGIBILITY

To maintain the scholarship, the student must maintain an overall grade point average of 2.5, a  grade point average of 3.0 in his/her major. Recipient must participate in cooperative education and placement must be in the automotive manufacturing industry.

ADDITIONAL ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS FOR SCHOLARSHIP RENEWALS

        GPA 2.5 overall (on scale of 4.0)
        GPA 3.0 in major

Individuals may submit applications before graduating from high school or receiving a GED.

Students in Associate of Occupational Technology degree programs are eligible if AOT major program is one of the above eligible programs.

AMOUNT OF AWARD

$1500 per academic year ($750 for each of two semesters)

NUMBER OF AWARDS

AWARD PERIOD

Scholarships are awarded prior to the beginning of each fall term. Scholarships are for one academic year and may be renewed contingent upon recipient maintaining eligibility requirements. This years recipients must enroll as full time students in at least two academic terms (e.g., fall and spring, spring and summer, fall and summer) during the 2010-11 academic year to receive the full award amount.

SELECTION

AAMA will select scholarship recipients. This years recipients will be notified no later than April 1, 2010.
