GUIDELINES
AAMA Manufacturing Scholarships are intended to encourage Alabama students to pursue careers in manufacturing sectors. Consideration will be given to students that have demonstrated an interest in a career in automotive manufacturing or automotive manufacturing maintenance. Preference will be given to recent high school graduates or GED recipients who are planning to enroll in an automotive manufacturing program at a two-year college in Alabama.
AAMA Manufacturing Scholarships support individuals pursuing a career/technical education certificate or associate degree in The Alabama College System in preparation for a career in the automotive manufacturing industry.
ELIGIBILITY
- Alabama resident
- High school graduate, high school senior graduating in Spring 2010, or GED recipient
- Planning to pursue automotive manufacturing career in Alabama
- Enrolled in or planning to enroll in an Alabama public two-year college in an eligible program during 2010-11 academic year
- Enrolled in at least two courses (6 hours) under the eligible program CIP code for each semester covered by the scholarship
To maintain the scholarship, the student must maintain an overall grade point average of 2.5, a grade point average of 3.0 in his/her major. Recipient must participate in cooperative education and placement must be in the automotive manufacturing industry.
ADDITIONAL ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS FOR SCHOLARSHIP RENEWALS
GPA 2.5 overall (on scale of 4.0)
GPA 3.0 in major

Students in Associate of Occupational Technology degree programs are eligible if AOT major program is one of the above eligible programs.
AMOUNT OF AWARD
$1500 per academic year ($750 for each of two semesters)
NUMBER OF AWARDS
- Maximum of twenty-five scholarships per academic year
- Twenty scholarships for 2010 high school or GED graduates
- Five scholarships for high school or GED graduates prior to 2010 or for students currently enrolled at two-year college
AWARD PERIOD
Scholarships are awarded prior to the beginning of each fall term. Scholarships are for one academic year and may be renewed contingent upon recipient maintaining eligibility requirements. This years recipients must enroll as full time students in at least two academic terms (e.g., fall and spring, spring and summer, fall and summer) during the 2010-11 academic year to receive the full award amount.

DEADLINE
Applications must be postmarked no later than February 28, 2010.
SELECTION
AAMA will select scholarship recipients. This years recipients will be notified no later than April 1, 2010.
